November 9 , 2009 Meeting

Hundred Area PRIDE met at Harmony Baptist Church. Members attending were Wally Huston, Chairmaine Lightner, Phil Lightner, Carroll Cumberledge, Judy Cumberledge, Denise Huggins, and Shannon Delaney.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Wally Houston.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved. The PRIDE account balance is $4,232.60. With holdings for other organizations, the total is $12,023.49.
OLD BUSINESS
- Phil Lightner found that it is acceptable for PRIDE to seek grants and funding for projects in the town of Hundred. Discussion considered Safe School grants for the sidewalks leading from town to the high school. The group discussed the possibility of partnering with the school and the community to investigate sidewalk replacement funding.
- Church Fork bridge was repaired Oct. 2009. Phil Lightner and Wally Huston restored the bridge arches using concrete forms that Phil made. Charmaine Lightner sealed the repairs with DryLock and painted on Nov. 9, 2009. A crew will be needed to repaint the whole bridge in the spring. The organization wishes to thank Phil and Wally for their time and effort in maintaining and restoring a community landmark. Members agreed to release funds to pay the bill for the cement and DryLock.
- Burton park bridge still needs repair. All scheduled work days were rained out. Repairs will be scheduled for the spring.
NEW BUSINESS
- Trail Issues - Four Wheelers on the trail. Clay Lunceford, (Town of Hundred police officer), will be contacted for clarification.
- Museum – Members discussed purchasing an old caboose to restore and park along the trail to be used as a museum. Members will search for sources and prices.
- Two Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce major events are scheduled. The 2009 Holiday parade on Saturday, December 5, 2009 and the Chamber Celebration Dinner on Thursday, December 10, 2009.
- The RC&D will be having a Christmas dinner and PRIDE members are invited to attend. The date will be announced.
- Caroll requested that we have a PRIDE Christmas dinner on Dec. 14, 2009. Bring a covered dish. Caroll will invite our new RC&D coordinator to attend. Members agreed to change the meeting date to accommodate his visit if necessary. Check the website for a possible change in date.
